Barber who owns 3.1 cr Rolls Royce

Barber who owns 3.1 cr Rolls Royce

The barber who owns a Rolls

He also has a fleet of Mercedes and BMWs. Next year, he will be buying a stretch limo. Imagine, he once earned just Rs 5 a day!

On most days, however, Ramesh drives to work in an egg-white Rolls Royce Ghost, handling the controls on the car’s spiffy dashboard with the same deft touch and care as when he is shaping somebody’s coif. The Rolls costs Rs 3.1 crore and there are only five other people in Bangalore who own such a pedigreed car. Ramesh Babu with his prized possession, the Rs 3.1 crore worth Rolls Royce Ghost, for which he pays an EMI of Rs 7 lakh

The 40-year-old bought the Rolls a few months back with his own hard-earned money, supplemented by a huge bank loan with a monthly pay-back installment of Rs 7 lakh. His earnings from the saloon are quite modest, but Ramesh, who networks well with the rich clientele of the elite Bowring Institute, has built a lucrative luxury car rental business.
But mainly, the man has a collector’s passion for fancy cars. And if there is some social prestige attached to it, then he’s not complaining.

Ramesh told Bangalore Mirror. Next year, Ramesh is planning to buy a stretch limousine worth around Rs 8 to 9 crore.

Currently, he has a fleet that includes Mercedes Benz (E,S and Viano series) and BMW (5 & 7 series). He hires out these cars to corporates through a travel agency. The Rolls, however, he rents out sparingly. He charges Rs 75,000 for a day for the Rolls when it is let out and his usual clients are corporate bigwigs and visiting Bollywood and Tollywood stars. The last High Net Worth Individual who hired his Rolls was Hero Honda’s chairman who was in town during the World Cup India-England clash.

The other notables in the city who own a Rolls include top builder Dayanand Pai, Royal Orchid Hotel’s owner Baljee and Gold Finch Hotel owner Prakash Shetty.

AMAZING STORY

When his father died in 1979, Ramesh, a nine year-old boy, was literally on the streets. The barber shop his father ran on Brigade Road’s St Patrick’s Complex was rented out for Rs 5 per day. Ramesh’s family survived on that money.

After completing SSLC, he quit studying and like his father became a full-time barber. He became a hair stylist subsequently. His fortunes changed in 1994, when taking a leaf from his uncle who rented out cars, be bought a a Maruti Omni van and started renting it out. From there began Ramesh’s tryst with cars. Even now, he has the Omni with him. In 1996, he started a saloon at Bowring Institute and has not looked back since.

IN THE FAMILY

Ramesh also owns a Suzuki Intruder high-end bike costing Rs 16 lakh. He rides this bike during weekends and it’s purely for his private use though occasionally he lets some of his close friends enjoy a ride. Meanwhile, his two-year-old son already seems to share his father’s passion. He effortlessly identifies each and every car in Ramesh’s fancy fleet.
Inside the saloon, as he dons his black overalls, Ramesh seamlessly makes the switch from Rolls Royce owner to barber.

“Even today, I cut the hair of my regular customers for just Rs 65. I can easily hike my rates but I don’t. It’s the family trade. And if I don’t cut someone’s hair on a particular day, I won’t be able to sleep,” Ramesh confessed. No matter that gleaming Rolls parked outside, his head surely is in the right place.

Do not Pump Tank full of petrol

Dont pump full

Many of us are not aware that the petrol has a return Kiosk Pump Pipe-line (in Black). When the petrol tank (in the car) reaches full level, there is a mechanism to trigger off the pump latch and at the same time a return-valve is opened (at the top of the station) to allow excess petrol to flow back into. the sump. But the return petrol has already pass through the meter, meaning you are donating the petrol back to the petrol stations.

Rotating Tower, Dubai, UAE

Rotating Tower, Dubai, UAE

Have you ever seen a building in motion that actually changes its shape sounds unbelievable but not to Dr. David Fisher. This building will never appear exactly the same twice. It is amazing but you will have the choice of waking up to sunrise in your bedroom and enjoying sunsets over the ocean at dinner. In addition to being such an incredible engineering miracle it will produce energy for itself and even for other buildings because it will have wind turbines fitted between each rotating floor (picture 2). So an 80-story building will have up to 79 wind turbines, making it a true green power plant.

First Ranker

Narayanaswamy
  • First Rank in State in Secondary School Examination
  • First Rank in University in Plus Two
  • First Rank in IIT Entrance Examination
  • First Rank in All India IIT Computer Science
  • First Rank in IAS Entrance Examination
  • First Rank in IAS Training Institute

On passing out from IIT Chennai Mr. Narayanaswamy was offered scholarship by the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology , USA .. He who came from a middle class family believed that he had a moral obligation to give something in return for the lakhs of rupees the government spent on him as an IIT student. He had the intelligence and conviction to realize that this money came also from the poorest of the poor - who pay up the excise duty on textiles when they buy cloth, who pay up customs, excise and sales tax on diesel when they travel in a bus, and in numerous other ways indirectly pay the government. So he decided to join IAS hoping he could do something for the people of this country. How many young men have the will power to resist such an offer from USA ? Narayanaswamy did never look at IAS as a black money spinner as his later life bears testimony to this fact.

After a decade of meritorious service in IAS, today, Narayanaswamy is being forced out of the IAS profession. Do you know why?

A real estate agent wanted to fill up a paddy field which is banned under law. An application came up before Narayanaswamy who was sub collector the, for an exemption from this rule for this plot of land. Upon visiting the site he found that the complaint from 60 poor families that they will face water logging due to the waste water from a nearby Government Medical College if this paddy field was filled up was correct. Narayanswamy came under intense political pressure but he did what was right - refused permission for filling up the paddy field. That was his first confrontation with politicians.

Soon after his marriage his father-in-law closed down a public road to build compound wall for his plot of land. People approached Narayanaswamy with complaint.

When talking with his own father-in-law did not help, he removed the obstructing wall with police help. The result, his marriage broke up.

As district Collector he raided the house of a liquor baron who had defaulted Rupees 11 crores payment to government and carried out revenue recovery. A Minister directly telephoned him and ordered to return the forfeited articles to the house of the liquor baron. Narayanswamy politely replied that it is difficult. The minister replied that Narayanaswamy will suffer.

In his district it was a practice to collect crores of rupees for earthen bunds meant for poor farmers, but which were never constructed. A bill for rupees 8 crores came up before Narayanaswamy. He inspected the bund. He found it very weak and said that he will pass the bill after the rainy season to ensure that the bund served the purpose. As expected the earthen bund was too weak to stand the rain and it disappeared in the rain. But he created a lot of enemies for saving 8 crores public money. The net result of all such unholy activities was that he was asked to go on leave by the government. Later such an illustrious officer was posted as "State Co-Ordinator, Quality Improvement Programme for Schools". This is what the politician will do to a honest officer with backbone - post him in the most powerless position to teach him a lesson. Since he found that nothing can be achieved for the people if he continued with the State Service he opted for central service. But that too was denied on some technical ground.

What will you do when you have a brilliant computer career anywhere in the world you choose with the backing of several advanced technical papers too published in international journals to your credit?

When you are powerless to do anything for the people, why should you waste your life as the Co-Ordinator for a Schools Programme?

Mr. Narayanaswamy is on the verge of leaving IAS to go to Paris to take up a well paid United Nations assignment. The politicians can laugh thinking another obstacle has been removed. But it is the helpless people of this country who will lose - not Narayanaswamy. But you have the power to support capable and honest bureaucra ts like Narayaswamy, G.R.Khairnar and Alphons Kannamthanam who have suffered a lot under self seeking politicians who rule us. You have even the power to replace such politicians with these kind of people dedicated to the country. The question is will you do the little you can do NOW? At least a vote or word in support of such personalities?

Put the Glass Down When you leave office today

Put the Glass Down When you leave office today.
Put the Glass Down When you leave office today. Study this small story. Hope that makes a BIG change in YOU.

A Professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see & asked the students
“How much do you think this glass weighs?”
'50g!' ....
'100g!' ..... '125g'
..the students answered.
“I really don't know unless I weigh it,” said the professor,
“but, my question is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?”
'Nothing' …..the students said.
'Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?' the professor asked.
'Your arm would begin to ache' said one of the student.
“You're right, now what would happen
if I held it for a day?”
“Your arm could go numb, you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis & have to go to hospital for sure!”
… ventured another student & all the students laughed …
“Very good, But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?”
asked the professor.
‘No’…. Was the answer.
“Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?”
The students were puzzled.
“What should I do now to come out of pain?” asked professor again.
‘Put the glass down!’ said one of the students.
“Exactly!” said the professor.
Life's problems are something like this.
Hold it for a few minutes in your head & they seem OK.
Think of them for a long time & they begin to ache.
Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze you.
You will not be able to do anything.
It's important to think of the challenges or problems in your life,
but EVEN MORE IMPORTANT is to
‘PUT THEM DOWN’
at the end of every day before
You go to sleep. That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh & strong & can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your way! So, When you leave office today, Remember my friend to … PUT THE GLASS DOWN TODAY!
